When you think of cleaning your body, what comes to mind? Brushing your teeth, showering, getting in between the toes... for most of us, the act of cleaning translates externally. But, don't our bodies need internal cleansing as well? Why aren't we brought up cleaning the inside of our bodies like we do the outside?
Society as a whole stresses the external. Take care of the appearance... ignore what is really going on. Beauty is so often defined by external features. We are master cover-uppers. But, who wants someone/ thing that is beautiful on the outside yet rotting away on the inside?
This past week, I traveled to Naples, FL and was blessed to be able to spend time with wellness guru, Debbie Van Schaardenburg, owner of the HILU Institute in Naples. She blew me away with information regarding why we need to spend just as much, if not more, energy cleaning the inside of our bodies as we do the outside.
While exercising & eating healthy are two great ways to keep your interior in shape, there are so many different opinions about which forms of exercise best cater to the human body and what eating healthy looks like. High protein... low carb... gluten free... the list goes on.
My choice, based on the facts, my views, and my recent encounter with Debbie, is a raw, plant-based diet. The first time I transitioned to a vegan diet was in 2012 after completing The Daniel Fast. For two years, I was 100% mindful of what went into my body and was in the best shape of my life: high-energy, perfect immune system, and stronger & more toned than ever.
Back then, I was motivated by the story of the Garden of Eden, which reads that before the fall of man, there was no evil, which meant no death. Humans were not originally intended to consume animals. However, I had very little scientific evidence to prove that eating animal cells was actually detrimental to your health, and what knowledge I did have was an unfinished puzzle. I ended up falling off the vegan wagon a few years later, and while I have been extremely careful about the quality of animal products I consume, I have certainly enjoyed consuming them. Until I met Debbie. This woman was able to answer every question I had about consuming animal protein, and convict me she did.
So, why go herbivore?
One word- PARASITES. Animals are infested with them. You can pay extra for grassfed, cage-free, etc., but the bottom line is they've all got them. One piece of steak contains over 30 million parasitic organisms. These parasites leach onto our blood cells, decrease blood flow, and deprive us of all things good. Under a microscope, healthy blood cells should look like plush, floating bubbles. The reality is, unless you have been 100% vegan for about 1/2 a year (the amount of time it takes blood cells to turn over,) your blood is crawling with parasites. Parasites that are constricting your blood cells and commandeering your vital nutrients. But, have no fear. A simple system cleanse will make your blood like new. Followed up with a raw, plant-based diet, it will stay that way.
Some people go their whole lives without performing a master cleanse. If you've never cut animal protein out of your diet or done a full system cleanse, you most likely have parasites as old as you, feeding off your sugar intake and laying eggs in your blood cells. The following cleanse is recommended twice a year:
Part I: Colon
Goal: 2-3 fast, easy to pass bowel movements a day (should be well formed and float).
If you reach this goal prematurely before getting up to 10 ComforTones, there is no need to add additional pills per day. If experiencing diarrhea or constipation, adjust your intake accordingly. Try to stick to a whole-foods, plant based diet as much as possible when cleansing. Hydrate regularly, and feel free to take your standard daily supplements.
What You Will Need:
Begin taking 3 Essentialzyme capsules per day and introducing ComforTone into your daily routine, building up to 10 pills daily as scheduled below:
Day 1: 1 ComforTone in the morning. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 2: 1 ComforTone in the morning and 1 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 3: 2 ComforTone in the morning and 1 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 4: 2 ComforTone in the morning and 2 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 5: 3 ComforTone in the morning and 2 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 6: 3 ComforTone in the morning and 3 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.

Day 10: 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
When having 2-3 good bowel movements daily, begin incorporating ICP into your cleanse, taking up to 3 tsp. in the morning and 3 at night. Mix powder with vegetable juice, and drink it down quickly. Continue taking ComforTone and Essentialzyme capsules. Remember to hydrate!
Day 11: 1 tsp. ICP in the morning. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 12: 1 tsp. ICP in the morning and 1/2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 13: 1 tsp. ICP in the morning and 1 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 14: 1 1/2 tsp. ICP in the morning and 1 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 15: 1 1/2 tsp. ICP in the morning and 1 1/2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 16: 2 tsp. ICP in the morning and 1 1/2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 17: 2 tsp. ICP in the morning and 2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 18: 2 1/2 tsp. ICP in the morning and 2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 19: 2 1/2 tsp. ICP in the morning and 2 1/2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 20: 3 tsp. (1 tbsp.) ICP in the morning and 2 1/2 tsp. at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Day 21: 3 tsp. (1 tbsp.) ICP in the morning and 3 tsp. (1 tbsp.) at night. 5 ComforTone in the morning and 5 at night. 3 Essentialzymes per day in between meals.
Continue colon cleansing until the mucoid plaque drops out of the colon. This may take between 6 weeks and 18 months.
Part II: Liver / Gall Bladder
Goal: To remove toxins from the liver and gall bladder in the form of small gallstones (pea-green or tan-colored) that float when excreted.
What You Will Need:
ð Six 1-liter (32 oz.) containers of pure apple juice, preferably with "The Mother" in it
ð 4 tablespoons of Epsom salts dissolved in three 8-oz glasses of water
ð ½ cup (4 0z.) of cold pressed, virgin olive oil
ð 2/3 glass of fresh grapefruit juice (pink is best), or fresh lemon and orange combined
ð 2 pint jars, one with a lid
To prepare for the actual cleanse, drink 32 oz. of apple juice every day for 6 days. Continue maintaining a plant-based diet throughout the 6 days. Avoid cold or chilled foods as much as possible, as they cool the liver and reduce the effectiveness of the cleanse. Avoid taking any medication, supplements, or vitamins unless absolutely necessary. Drink water whenever you are thirsty, except right after drinking the Epsom salts and for the first two hours after drinking the oil mixture.
Day 1: Drink 32 oz. of apple juice.
Day 2: Drink 32 oz. of apple juice.
Day 3: Drink 32 oz. of apple juice.
Day 4: Drink 32 oz. of apple juice.
Day 5: Drink 32 oz. of apple juice.
Day 6: Drink 32 oz. of apple juice in the morning upon waking. Eat a light breakfast, such as oatmeal. Avoid sugar or other sweeteners, spices, milk, butter, oils, yogurt, cheese, ham, eggs, nuts, pastries, cold cereals, and the like on this day. Fruit or fruit juices are fine. For lunch, eat plain cooked or steamed vegetables with white rice (preferably basmati rice) and flavor it with a little unrefined sea or rock salt. To repeat, do not eat any protein foods, butter, or oil, or you might feel ill during the actual cleanse. Do not eat or drink anything (except water) after 1:30 p.m., or you may have difficulties passing stones. Follow the exact schedule below:
6:00 P.M. Add 4 tablespoons of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to 24 ounces (three 8oz. glasses) of filtered water in a jar. This makes four 6-oz servings. Drink your first portion (¾ glass) now. You may take a few sips of water afterward to neutralize the bitter taste in you mouth, or you may add a little lemon juice to improve the taste. Some people drink it with a plastic straw to bypass the taste buds on the tongue. Closing the nostrils while drinking it works well for most people. It is also helpful to brush your teeth afterward or rinse out the mouth with baking soda. One of the main actions of Epsom salt is to dilate (widen) the bile ducts, making it easy for the stones to pass. Moreover, the salts clear out waste that may obstruct the release of the stones. (If you are allergic to Epsom salts or are just not able to get them down, you may instead use the second best choice- magnesium citrate- at the same dosage). Set out the citrus fruit you will be using later, so that it can warm to room temperature.
8:00 P.M. Drink your second serving (¾ glass) of Epsom salts.
9:30 P.M. If you have not had a bowel movement until now and have not done a colon cleanse within the past 24 hours, take a water enema; this will trigger a series of bowel movements.
9:45 P.M. Thoroughly wash the grapefruits (or lemons and oranges). Squeeze them by hand and remove the pulp. You will need ¾ glass of juice. Pour the juice and ½ glass of olive oil into the pint jar. Close the jar tightly and shake hard, about 20 times or until the solution is watery. Ideally, you should drink this mixture at 10:00 p.m., but if you feel you still need to visit the bathroom a few more times, you may delay this step for up to 10 minutes.
10:00 P.M. Stand up next to your bed (DO NOT SIT DOWN), and drink the concoction, if possible, without interruption. Some people prefer to drink it through a large plastic straw. Drinking it while keeping the nostrils closed seems to work best. If necessary, use a little honey between sips, which helps the mixture go down more smoothly. Most people, though, have no problem drinking one on the go. Do not take more than 5 minutes for this (unless elderly or too weak).
Lie Down Immediately!
This is essential for helping to release the gallstones! Turn off the lights and lie flat on your back with one or two pillows propping your head up. Your head should be higher than your abdomen. If this is uncomfortable, lie on your right side with your knee pulled toward your head. Lie perfectly still for at least 20 minutes, and try not to speak! Put your attention on your liver. Some people find it beneficial to place a castor oil pack over the liver area.
You may feel the stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There won’t be any spasms or pain because the magnesium in the Epsom salts keeps the bile duct valves wide open and relaxed, and the bile that is excreted along with the stones keeps the bile ducts well lubricated. (This is very different than in the case of a gall bladder attack where magnesium and bile are not present). Go to sleep, if possible. If the urge to have a bowel movement comes along, do so. You may see small gallstones (pea-green or tan) already floating in the toilet. You may feel nauseated during the night and into the early morning, but this nausea will pass as the morning progresses. This is due to a strong, sudden outpouring of gallstones and toxins from the liver and gall bladder, pushing the oil mixture back into the stomach.
The Following Morning
Day 7: 6:00-6:30 a.m. Upon awakening, but not before 6:00 a.m., drink your third ¾ glass of Epsom salts (if you feel very thirsty, drink a glass of warm water before taking the salts). Rest, read, or meditate. You may go back to bed, although it is best if the body stays in an upright position. Most people feel fine and prefer to do some light exercises, such as yoga.
8:00-8:30 a.m. Drink your fourth and last ¾ glass of Epsom salts.
10:00-10:30 a.m. You may drink freshly pressed fruit juice at this time. One half-hour later, you may eat one or two pieces of fresh fruit. One hour later, you may eat regular (but light) food. During the morning and, perhaps, afternoon hours following the cleanse, you will have a number of watery bowel movements. These initially consist of gallstones mixed with food residue, and then just stones mixed with water. Most of the gallstones are pea-green and float due to their bile compounds.
By the evening or the next morning you should be back to normal and feel the first signs of improvement. Continue to eat light meals during the following 2-3 days. Remember, your liver and gallbladder, have just undergone major “surgery,” albeit without the harmful side effects or the expense.
Part III: PARASITES
Goal: To get rid of those buggers!
What You Will Need:
